Ziyal

Ziyal is Jaeger's desktop computer since November 1999, when it replaced Defiant in that role.

When Defiant began to show its age as Jaeger's desktop computer, Jaeger built an all-new computer, based on a 450 MHz AMD K5, and named it Ziyal, after the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine character Tora Ziyal.

In September 2002, Ziyal was upgraded with an AMD Athlon 1800+ processor and 512 megabytes of ram. She was used to edit The Worst Sci-Fi Prequel Ever!, as well as other film sillyness. When Jaeger and Kiesa moved into the Temple of Castor and Pollux, Ziyal was set up in the adjacent study; her use diminished since she was no longer in the primary living space. Things got even worse at monarch.festing.org; Ziyal was relegated to the basement, substantially replaced by the sexier notebook computers allowed to frolic on the dining room table and coffee table on the main level. Ziyal was not invited to Megafest 5.0. However, she is a valued computer and serves Jaeger's e-mail and some of the infrastructure needs of monarch.festing.org, especially after the demise of Ivanova.
