Illyria is a T21 Thinkpad. She is Jaeger's personal notebook computer but was largely supplanted by Darnassus from April 2006 through February 2008, and is likely to be almost entirely replaced by Portico as of April 2008. There are rumors that Calvin may end up with Illyria, if suitable baby-compatible software can be found.

History

On 28 March 2005, while attempting to resurrect Elssbett's LCD backlight, Jaeger inadvertently broke Elssbett's LCD. After contemplating the matter, Kiesa authorized Jaeger to purchase a used T21 on eBay. It arrived on 2 April 2005.

Illyria currently runs Debian (kernel 2.6.18.1) and Windows 2000.

Illyria is named after Illyria on the television show Angel. The name is pronounced ah-LYR-i-ah.

From April 2005 until Jaeger was issued a new notebook computer by a new employer in April 2006, Illyria was Jaeger's primary notebook. Illyria traveled with Jaeger on business to Boston [1] and on his first trip to Los Angeles. Jaeger continues to use Illyria in cases where Darnassus is too large or where a somewhat more expendable computer would be optimal. (Examples include Jaeger and Kiesa's holiday in London in September 2006.) When Jaeger changed jobs again in February 2008, Jaeger surrendered Darnassus and began using Illyria again until purchasing Portico in April 2008.

Illyria served as Jaeger's secondary, more-portable notebook computer until the acquisition of Hobbes in late 2009. Jaeger finally wiped and decommissioned Illyria sometime in 2010, but since then she has occasionally been used by Calvin in the service of a Windows-based edu-tainment game.
