Heather's Stroganoff

Serves 4-6

Ingredients

  • 1 can Vegetable Steaks
  • Oil
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms
  • 1.5 sticks of butter
  • 4 packets Washington's Rich Brown Seasoning and Broth
  • McKay's Chicken seasoning
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 3-4 cups of water
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Rice

Seasoning Mix

  • 1/2 cup to a cup of flour
  • 1 tablespoon McKay's Chicken seasoning
  • 2 packets Washington's Golden Seasoning and Broth
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Crushed crackers

Directions

Cut Vegetable Steaks into bite size pieces, dip in seasoning mix, and fry until browned. In a separate two-quart frying pan, sauté onions and mushrooms in butter. Once the onions begin to tender, add the flour, Rich Brown seasoning, and chicken seasoning. Let the flour brown, and then add the water while stirring constantly. Bring to a slow boil, add the browned Vegetable Steaks, thicken to taste, cut heat, and add the sour cream.
